The OrbitCG 7180 is an extended version of the well known 7120 Orbit. Additionally to the 7120 functions, the OrbitCG 7180 features the CodeGate function, a single-line mode and an optional EAS deactivator function.

When the CodeGate function is active, the scanner reads bar codes automatically. The user then confirms the scanned codes and initialises transmission of the bar code data by pressing the CodeGate button. This is especially useful whenever it is important that the correct codes are transmitted. When it comes to scanning bar codes from lists or menus, the single-line mode can be used to focus the scan line on a single bar code.
